European navigation DVD modifying for american Toyota

The following description is useful for those, whose

latest official 2008-2009 map program does not allow Hungary (and many others) be chosen, and search by streets, or POI.

Disc order

In the last 3 years navigation maps' coverage in Hungary has greatly improved.
On the 2006 version Europe ended at the Eastern borders of Austria, and on the place of our country just a white spot was visible. The 2007 E10 version had 44 % of Hungary's territory covered, though quite scantly, whole settlements were missing.
The 2008 E11 version was well usable, according to experiences the coverage might have been about 90%, which provided street level navigation on most settlements.
On the E12 version published in 2009 November could but improve this rate further, the Megyeri bridge, the whole of the M7 highway, the Outlet Center at Budaőrs, etc. all became visible:


It has but one defect. While on the E10 disc Hungary could be chosen from the list of coutries, on the E11 and E12 versions we can only be watching our progress along the route, and we can select a destination only by scrolling, zooming on the screen as we look for the desired location, for Hungary is missing from the list:


The American map made for the American car is partitioned into 12 regions, and the program can't display more at a time, and the page turn option is not working:


The problem is caused by that on European discs there are more than 12 contries' maps, what's more they even contain all almost all European countries' address, POI data. The countries are displayed in alphabet order, so while Hungary was 12th on the E10 disc, on the E11 Bulgaria and Greece was also added to the list, so Hungary has been tossed to the 14th position.

If we would like to search address by settlement, street, and house number in Hungary as well, then we need a modified disc, that has Hungary (as well) in its menu among the first 12:


With same modification in the East disc possible to choose Romania (R), Croatia (HR), Greece (G), Turkey (T), Slovenia (SLO), Slovakia (SK).
In the West, North, Central disc similar in case of Norway (N), Portugalia (P), Poland (PL), Sweden (S), and some other countries.

TO SUM UP:

For those who seek the original map disc from official source, with bill, I recommend Toyota map update site: www.toyota-mapupdates.eu
The original four-discs set can be bought from official Toyota/Lexus dealers at the price of 159 EUR.
But this is NOT FIT FOR USE in American cars !
If it is, then it works with the following restrictions:

- Voice guidance doesn't work in English, only in French and Spanish
- Voice command doesn't work, we cannot switch the radio on by live speech
- In the country choice menu not every country is visible

Discs modified by me don't solve the first two problems, so voice guided navigation and voice command will not be available !
